Add A Favicon To Your Rainmaker Theme

It helps to provide your visitors and customers with an easy way to recognize that a link they have bookmarked, or a tab they have open belongs to your site. This is achieved by adding an image in to the corner of the tab called a ‘favicon’. Not only that, favicons also provide a small amount of trust as the image can represent your business as being established.

Take a look at the screenshot below and you’ll agree it’s easy to know which website each tab belongs to!

Rainmaker provides an option in the ‘Appearance’ area for you to add a custom favicon and replace the default one that comes with your site. In this tutorial, I will show you how to quickly add a favicon.

To add a favicon to our Rainmaker theme, we are going to go into the ‘Appearance’ area of our admin and upload a new image to the ‘Favicon’ options.

Follow the text instructions below.

1. Navigate to ‘Design’ –> ‘Appearance’ –> ‘Favicon’. If you simply want to just remove the default Rainmaker Favicon for the moment, click the ‘Remove’ button and save the changes.

2. To add a new favicon image, click on the ‘Select Image’ button. This will open the media uploader where you can select an existomg image in your media library, or you can upload a new image.

3. Once the image has been uploaded or selected, make sure to click the ‘Save And Publish’ button to save the changes and publish the change on your live site.

Go back to the home page of your site and refresh the screen. You should see the new favicon appearing in the browser tab. The favicon will also appear in the Admin area as well.

If you don’t see the image, make sure to clear your browser cache. If your website is already using a live domain, I would also click the ‘Clear Cache’ link in the blue admin bar.
